The ancient Vigil of Pentecost has been neglected in the Western church, even before it was nearly abolished in the liturgical reforms of the past century. Yet for primitive Christians, the Vigil of Pentecost was comparable in solemnity to the Easter Vigil, and likewise centered on the Sacrament of Baptism.
Bishop Jeremiah D. Williamson will be the celebrant. Both from St. George’s, Schenectady, The Rev’d Thomas Pettigrew will give the sermon and Dr. Brian Taylor will be the organist for this Mass. The Vigil Mass begins at 7:00 p.m.Clergy are invited to arrive at 6:30PM and vest in red.
