Christianity 101: The Great Easter Vigil on Zoom

This course is for those interested in deepening their Christian faith and especially for those who wish to be confirmed or baptized at our Great Vigil of Easter on Saturday evening, April 16. The course meets weekly on Tuesdays at 8PM and runs through Tuesday, April 12. Those wanting to be baptized or confirmed should inform their senior clergy and attend all the classes.

Description from our Dean:

Bishop Michael Smith will be at the Cathedral for the three major holy days leading up to Easter, Maundy Thursday, April 14, Good Friday, April 15 and the Great Vigil of Easter on Saturday evening, April 16. At the Vigil Bishop Smith will be celebrating the sacraments of Baptism and Confirmation. Baptism is entry into the Christian life and Confirmation is a sacrament for those making an adult profession of faith before a bishop for the first time. There will also be an opportunity for all present to reaffirm their baptismal vows.

The Rev. Jonathan Beck, one of the Cathedral deacons, has an MA-M in ministry degree and is a candidate for the degree of STM in ascetical theology at General Theological Seminary in New York City. He will teach this class with assistance from the Dean via Zoom at 8 pm on Tuesday evenings beginning March 1. This class is for those who are preparing for baptism or confirmation and their sponsors. I strongly encourage anyone who is looking for a refresher course in the Christian faith and who would like to deepen their walk with Christ to take this course and consider renewing their baptismal vows at the baptismal fount on the night in which Our Lord opened the way from death to the life eternal.
