Letter from the Dean
20 November 1998 Dear People and Friends of the Cathedral Family: We know, of course, that the prophet's vision saw fulfillment at the shores of the Galilean lake. Peter and his brother Andrew were casting nets. The Gospel record amplifies the encounter: later on another pair of brothers, James and John, is discovered mending the nets. The enterprise of mission, catching disciples to incarnate Christ's saving work in this world of ours, bears a price - the necessity to maintain the home, the fabric, from which our apostolic work is offered. It is at this juncture that we find ourselves here at the Cathedral of All Saints. We yearn to continue to cast our nets in our community and in our diocese, but the time has come to implement the mending. To this end I invite you to join each and every member of the Cathedral Family as we re-kindle the flame of Adventure in Faith. Our future is best reflected in the ageless credo, "A Cathedral is a place of mission or it is nothing." Together let us make this belief a living reality. The Cathedral of All Saints must be a Flagship of the Spirit. Devoted and gratefully, The Very Reverend Marshall J. Vang |
