The People of the Cathedral

The Cathedral of All Saints is a place of holiness, of architectural beauty, and of people. People come to it from its own congregation, from the Diocese, and from the community - to worship, to make music, and to experience the joys of fellowship.

The people of the Cathedral build their hopes on a century-long tradition of service to Diocese and community. But they know that history makes new demands. The body of the Cathedral is timeworn and needs repair. And the rapidly approaching 21st century calls for a fresh vision and renewed commitment. The people of the Cathedral are determined to meet the challenge. They recall the memorable words of the Right Reverend William Croswell Doane, the Cathedral's first bishop, as he looked to the future: let a new genera- tion shape the shaft and carve the chapiter, till the faces in it speak and the flowers in it smell.
